Marlene Hemmings, the grandchild of Russian, Greek and Lithuanian immigrants, has been practicing United States Immigration and Nationality Law since 1997.
She earned her Undergraduate Degree from California State University, Northridge, where she was a member of Psi Chi Honor Society.
As a law student at Southwestern University, in Los Angeles, Ms. Hemmings served as a Law Clerk for the Honorable Nora Crane (WCAB), and interned with Protection and Advocacy, as well as the California Department of Justice.
Ms. Hemmings was awarded a Juris Doctor Degree from Southwestern University in June 1996, admitted to the California State Bar in December 1996, and is authorized to practice law before the Central and Southern District Federal Courts.
Although her expertise is in business/employment-based immigration practice, Ms. Hemmings has extensive private practice experience with family-based petitions, naturalization, extraordinary ability petitions, and a myriad of other immigration-based issues.
Ms. Hemmings is a Contributing Attorney for LawGuru.com (having answered over 1,000 immigration questions!) and Avvo.com, a Member of MENSA, and has undertaken many pro-bono legal assistance projects throughout her career, including Neighborhood Legal Services, Public Counsel, and the L.A. County Bar Association Immigration Legal Assistance Project.
